Glasgow & Bothwell Castle

JAMAICA STREET, GLASGOW
Jamaica Street, Glasgow

We arrived in Glasgow Sunday afternoon. There wasn’t time to do much. Besides, it was raining on and off. The hotel we were staying at was on the Clyde River and after dinner, we walked across the bridge and back. I just had to make 10,000 steps on my Fitbit.

The next day, we walked down to George Square and the Cenotaph (see photo of mounted sword) and took a City Bus Tour in the morning. There were a couple of murals done by an Australian artist (lots of murals all over town), a quilt project (maybe not, can’t find any references online), some famous pubs, the Scottish Exhibition & Conference Center (Glasgow’s Sydney Opera House) and SSE Hydro (looks like a spaceship when lit), and the University of Glasgow. We were done around noon.

After a refreshing nap, we hit the road for Bothwell Castle in South Lanarkshire by the town of Uddingston.

Then to end the day, one of our most impressive dinners throughout the trip at a nice little French restaurant in Uddinston called Smith’s.

Tomorrow, we fly to Cardiff in Wales.
